TAIPEI, April 20 (Reuters) - The Chinese aircraft carrier the Liaoning sailed through the Taiwan Strait on Monday, the Taiwanese defence ministry said, in the first transit of the sensitive waterway by such a vessel since late last year.
China has announced it will resume some ties with Taiwan, including direct flights and imports of Taiwanese aquaculture products.
The aircraft carrier Liaoning sailed through the Taiwan Strait this week, the first Chinese carrier transit reported by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense since the Fujian made a similar trip in December.
