This is the last tram in Birmingham which left Steelhouse Lane packed with passengers heading for Erdington on 4th July 1953. Number 616 was escorted by crowds of Brummies who wanted to be a part of history as the tram ended at the terminus in Erdington. The scene was more like a street party with people lining the streets to wish it goodbye. Police escorts and cyclists followed beside the tram with a massive crowd at the end of the line. | Coventry Live
